About Us

About The Program
Rebuilding confidence through extraordinary mountain experiences.
There is a freedom in the mountains that can’t be found anywhere else. It invites us to abandon everyday boundaries and reconnect with our self-confidence and inner strength—and it’s the basis for everything we do. Through rehabilitative sports and recreation activities, Vail Veterans Program helps to rebuild confidence and provide a sense of freedom from catastrophic injuries including: loss of multiple limbs, severe burns, spinal cord injuries, post-traumatic stress syndrome, and traumatic brain injuries. These services are provided free-of-charge to wounded warriors and their families, allowing for much-needed time away from the hospital and offering hope for the future.
Our Mission
Provide military injured and their families with innovative and transformational programs that build confidence and improve lives.
Our Vision
To cultivate a nationwide community of veterans and their families that provides innovative, world-class programs, rooted in the mountains, to strengthen lifelong relationships and reinforce purposeful lives.
What We Do
Since 2004, Vail Veterans Program has transformed the lives of military injured and their families through innovative programs that build confidence and life-long relationships. Programs range from the adventurous to the connective, including summer and winter therapeutic recreational programming, caregiver-specific wellness events, Veterans Path to Success, and empowerment training.
Vail Veterans Program participants include United States military personnel who have been severely injured while serving our country. Most veterans who participate in our programs come directly from: Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD; Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX, and the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, CA. Vail Veterans Program events are provided to military injured and their families entirely free of charge.
